I recently found the blog Sociological Images, which always delivers a great, eye-opening read. Last week, one of the contributors deconstructed an email advertisement for Spirit Airlines. The ad encouraged customers to "Trade Up for a Better Flight Awards Card."
The image accompanying the ad reinforces the twisted, damaging idea that women are just another thing, something that, of course, the male airline customer gets when he "trades up." And, the ad sends the message that women will automatically be attracted to men who are wealthy and successful.
