I, too, was disappointed that Smith did not go into more detail regarding critical realism. I'm actually doing a mini-research project right now that includes CR and I'll be asking a few friends who also happen to be Philosophy professors for some insight. I'll forward anything I find to you.

By the way, great posts on Smith's book!
